September is rapidly approaching and with it, the annual recognition of National Preparedness Month! This year, the annual Ready Campaign has several areas of focus and abundant templates that can be used to encourage this year's emphasis on planning - with the overarching theme that: Disasters Happen. Prepare Now. Learn How.
InfraGard NCR remains committed to supporting individual, organizational, community, and national preparedness and we're happy to encourage active participation and support to this year's campaign. This year, we are going to use the provided content and encourage members do a few things to support.
Following this Vantage Point post, we will post the Ready Campaign content for the week - including the suggested InfraGard areas of focus - to the InfraGard website and to the Chapter's LinkedIn page, and share those links via Twitter. Those will include items taken from the Ready Campaign template. We ask you to:
Share the blog and LinkedIn posts via social media;
Find ways to share within your office and with your teams;
Take time to share the theme each week with your family or friends;
Commit to taking one action each week. One thing! There is one thing you can improve - so do it as part of National Preparedness Month!
Please take some time to review the overarching and weekly themes for this year's NPM program and please join us in promoting that all citizens and residents take time to enhance their readiness to respond to the unexpected. Because: Disasters Happen. Prepare Now. Learn How.
In addition to the themes and suggested social media hashtags, our Chapter is promoting the idea that in security and resilience, we can't afford to put things off. As part of NPM, and in other future efforts, we'll be promoting the idea to "Do it now" (#DoItNow). You don't need to eat the entire farm in one sitting, but, let's take one bite at a time, and let's start together, today.

National Preparedness Month (NPM), recognized each September and found at https://www.ready.gov/september, provides an opportunity to remind us that we all must prepare ourselves and our families now and throughout the year. This NPM will focus on planning, with an overarching theme: Disasters Happen. Prepare Now. Learn How.
Take time to learn lifesaving skills − such as CPR and first aid, check your insurance policies and coverage for the hazards you may face, such as flood, earthquakes, and tornados. Make sure to consider the costs associated with disasters and save for an emergency. Also, know how to take practical safety steps like shutting off water and gas.
The devastating hurricanes and wildfires of 2017 reminded the nation of the importance of preparing for disasters. Often, we will be the first ones in our communities to take action after a disaster strikes and before first responders arrive, so it is important to prepare in advance to help yourself and your community.
